M.F.Smith 1976 JOURNAL Santa Monica Mts., 3.5 mi from intersection of Hwy 1 and Rambla Pacifica Rd, Los Angeles, Calif Aug.13 Finished setting traps at ~ Set up camp at the end of one of the dirt roads at the site. Cooked dinner and worked on journal for a little while after dark. Aug.14 Got up at 7:00 am. There had been some mist during the night and we had gotten into Bonnie's tube tent flat on the ground. Checked traps: 1st 40 in shrubby vegetation and rocks. 7 Neotoma fuscipes released 6 Peromyscus truei 30 traps in open shrubby veg. and along road side 4 Neotoma fuscipes released 1 Dipodomys 2 Peromyscus truei 20 traps at top of pass edge of chamise, canthus some bare sandy dirt. 1 Dipodomys 2 Neotoma fuscipes released 3 Peromyscus truei 40 traps near entrance 6 Peromyscus truei 2 Neotoma fuscipes released Finished there and stopped in Malibu to call Pedi Berkelhomer Irvine. Drove to Pedi + Alb house and had lunch, then went to alb lab at U C Irvine to process mice. Finished there at ~7:30pm.
