M.F. Smith 1976 JOURNAL Hopland Field Station, Mendocino Co., Calif. Mar. 13 Finished checking traps at 2:00pm. Ate lunch on hillside overlooking Valley of the Russian River. Bright sunny day with light breeze from At 2:30 started mapping chaparral plot with graph paper, compass, protractor, 40 meter steel tape. Finished there at 4:10 pm. Drove back to O-2 to work on sketch map there. Enlarged scale from Hopland map since each of 4 sides looks straight. Sketched in trees; deciduous oaks (Valley Oaks); Black Oak; grass. Finished there at 5:15pm. Went back to bunkhouse. Have 3 Peromyscus boylii (Rock Pile 72, 74, 48), 1 fox? (Rock Pile 76), and 1 Peromyscus truei (Foater Pasture Creek Bed 87) to Mike Fry to put up for the museum at Hopland Field Station. Had dinner and then went to Headquarters building to look at weather records. Data recorded on following 3 pages for the Headquarters weather station. Xeroxed data for Headquarters and for Coon Lake+ Orchard (2900') Stations. Went to bed at 10:00pm. Mar. 14 Up at 5:45 am. Went out at 6:45am to check traps.
