Holmes, R. 1962 Erolia fuscicollis 24 June Barrow, Alaska One hour after landing - the bird fed both along < Polygon (low-cut) ridges & suddenly dropped into a depression - 2' east / a 15' diameter pond - which lies adjacent to the large lake. The bird put his chest into the lotus / the cup - tail tip folded upward pointing back into the air 10 meters to mini-Price's right appendage & with tail as it pushed the chick into the cup. After about 30 sec - its straightened tail and the cup. It heads tail at about same level - not angled in with tail higher. It then turned 5 times - ever five seconds squirming a bit in a different direction (18° N - E - S - W). Finally returned to head - pointed SW direction - at which time it stood - & the cup began pecking like 1 gram from around the cup - where were tossed to the side - i.e. "over the shoulder." These were thrown at both sides - casually alternately. It then stepped out of the cup - stood about 3" away - again pecking like 1 gram & moving them to the side & into the cup. It then returned to the next cup - stood again - pecking on vegetation, briefly settling & turning a moving its body from side to side. Shelled?
