Holmes,R 1962 Erolia fuscicollis 9 june Barrow, Alaska was watched during the entire afternoon. Most of the time was spent in feeding, but one bird was seen to give a courtship display force. The posture here is as we have recorded it - with perhaps the head held a bit higher - or at least so higher at one suspension - when the call is given. The note seems to be more it - zha-porns, zha-poring,... given with quite a violent movement. The head up & down. They paid no attention. The displaying bird would fly just a short aerial hill - each time upon landing - the wing (1 wing) would be held vertically for a second or so then be folded slowly into proctu - almost in a deliberate (or ceremonial) manner. He was seen at least 10 times. Once - the bird landed about 40' from the other white rump wheel was feeder near 2 Rerlin. After the display landed he apparently evos alarmed & raised me away toward those other birds - The lower raised it again - 3-4 times. Suddenly - then started to fly & hovered over this
