Holmes, R. 1963 C. melanoto 18 July Barrow, Alaska near the lagoon plot. In afternoon - 2079I met pbd- fledgling in wet meadow area - but pecking, not probing. Along with week - sec. 49 were seen - some appear to have nests & other were unattached. At nest #39 - new seven eggs - I think this nest was taken by predator - Suits last time, 1 egg too but the nest by 6" s now they are all gone. The I may have directed them to - at the time I saw for frye several days ago - but this seen unlikely (from then - no egg how it disappear some way - so joe gus may have been involved). One Wood 1 3 downy - 2 day old green banding - dryd south (Ottawa). From Wood/3 -(30-40 sec) young were captured & banded in Vol 5 Story I per Ne enclosure. In this case when I started to catch the chicks - Ne & chick did not display - just the chick-alan cue. At Nesantine, a flock 1689 arrived & all began given distraction displays - Ne entire sequence - include fluffing, embedded bold features, etc - Record - chick case race - S. at one time - there were 749 - all
