3 July Barrow, Alaska

the young must have been nearby.
4 July Consumed Pichler's plot & found several 1 hoop
nest - all were covered with 1-3" snow -
In both cases, the #7 were on the nest and
the snow. As I approached - I could hear
a rustling of a bird + the above
would pop up through the snow +
freeze, the bird would jump off &
not see off i distractin display. They
must have been a few nests left to
yesterday afternoon - where the snow
was 1 foot.
Five chase / #7 - 1 by 3" + Both
My 4" were noted - the #7 gave me
false note - the #7 & the 6 case note. The #7 in
the chorus were not off nests known to me -
they were not seen on the ground.
Nest #7 - checked - the #7 was partially on
the nest - at least her head was down toward
the eggs - her hen and stilled up in near -
I walked right by & picked her up - put a
band on her left leg. - She did a weak
distractin display & then stood off -
Nervously. One egg was partially cracked - i
couldn't tell if broke or she had broken it -
Also - she felt cold - so maybe she had
