RTH 196B 41. E. melanotus 3 July Barrow, Alaska The flecks up & fly off a few yards at any settled (M) mother fledging. The nest & heat-supplanting in them - until they fly off the last in a group. They showed no sign of any aggressive nature. Later - a nest with 4 eggs was found near 0.2 u dry grass (Bos + Arctostaphylos) which produced 28% care for the eggs. The nest (#17) is only 150' from nest #5. Both are located within what was the further 10° (at NE corner / plot + Dr. B - (who was not present today) was there earlier - with the 14- a nest & the other in pre-up. displays. A 9-9 interaction noted here - when both 9's were off their nests. No aggression event into the above described 9-agg. action - Mother maintained the rear-end-up position where 9 gave a 287. The aggressor (from the older nest - #5) decided at mother - who took flight. A chase followed - with #5 & follower #174 - both were giving no 9-call note. Nest #5 lower level - while mother bird
