E. melanotos
39.
1 July Barrow, Alaska
This season. One or more De & flew
short distance (10't) during which I'm
fairly sure the coloration - De or
would follow closely in a few minutes
The jabor. After 2-3 min, De & flew
off to chase a gull 1433. It did not
return during my stay.
Several flown 75' north - 114
1/3, 1411 - & over 3-5. De (with
some smalls) along the beach
Bird only - Not in much of a rush
2 July Small group 3-4 - along coast
from my - until noon - also
Ostelher's plot. Display activity
(except 1 day - 8-8 - with jabor)
- in recent area. Display activity is
slowly decreasing.
One nest with eggs found 20 yrs
north probably - in line with Brown's
warming.
3 July Kruvavik - Display activity was further reduced
today + some of the previous defenders 78
have now left. Only 7 active 78
(X a corner sheet) were claiming
aerial displays - Whereas a week ago
there were almost 3 x this number.
