Between calls after any P. subtilis
appears - when they are 'unmated'
or off a nest. One & today who
was flushed from nest - did a rodent
run distraction display & was immediately
'counted' by c & (ground-prep. display).
She came on - kept - a low arc-
flur shot distances & kept through the
grass. He made several attempts
to court her - & the flur off & performed
territorial display.
At the north-east corner of the plat -
the c had a well-defined territory
covering about 3-3½ acres. After watching
her for awhile & seeing several
boundary conflicts with adjoining
&c. Suddenly - the c began to perform
a precopulatory display to c & in the center /
The territory - he did this twice & during
a second time, I walked out to - knew
not which was located in the
territory & then was the inc. & on the nest.
So - here we were with a nesting c
& his family - going through a precopulatory
display to a second c - any 200' away.
When the c flushed from the nest - she
came in contact with the other c - they
