C. melanotos
21 june Barrow, Alaska
after which the C? follows & may repeat the
above performance when they land again.
At times - The guttural kursor - note well
turn with a liquid note - which is given
rapidly. Such as most so's been
partly subvocal & apparently involved in the
produced 1st sound. This gott, goot....
Note seem to be a modification of the
aerial booming - (i.e perhaps the
full actual living stroke is needed
to fill air sacs & then to expel
the air). The bubbly-gurgling note on
the ground is given with very noticeable
movement of the head throat region - both
head & tail - (i.e forward component comp. hue -
head moves from vertical to 45° forward -
back ) - bill is open during these
acts.
Since the C? normally remains indifferent
to these actions (have described above had
a nest with 4 eggs) The occurs cannot

it follows, giving the follower chime note
the lines, to follows. Sometimes - when landing
