RTH 1963 17june Barrow, Alaska At least 3 stragglers - ii unsettled P3 - were observed merely independently through the plot. Each would be chased by succeeding for turn, tan down the plot. When 18 would turn back from the chase The next would start. On Beringian trip for Barrow - a nest with 2 eggs & an incubating P was found in the south slope of Bear's ridge, 140 yds west of No Meadow Lake. - on grass slope - eggs 70% covered & did not perform duet-brooding display. Tried a model 1 a P mounted in alert posture - it was placed - a small mound within the plot territory. Once re-septed it (took about 10 min) - he flew up, landed 6' away - ran rapidly toward the model, gave a jabber (on tape!) & attacked bitting the model with its bill. After about 2sec, he stood off - looking at the model that me (10' away) - after looking for another 2sec - he flew off + performed a duet-brooding display. He did not care much to the model.
