Holmes,R 1963 15 June Barrow Alaska C. melanotos Muir displo activity today & Chases of 87 by 8 - a fast flying flyb who low on the ground at 50-75' in the air - accompanying by gurgling chase note. When near armed territory boundaries, a reversal I appear- with [illegible] - The birds change pattern in chase. Min of 1-2 chases. entire a third of 87 took the full flight - the winter which as many as 5 were involved in our metane. By limiting the activity, individual birds was not determinable. Usually, our birds split into groups - 4-2's- and males all settled well - they are. New Chases, as well as being causal by chases extending into adjoining territories - were seen when a f was present. In one case, the 87 chased off her 1 as she passed into other 8's territory - they all joined -. If I would land, the 87s would come in behind her fled - or would stay at h or A - at least one - full wood holeflightogram. Ms was well known in the gurgling Chasenote (= flatulent note HFAF) (the note is also given by the 8's to a girl
