Hormes.R 1962 Erolia melanotos 18 Aug Barrow, Alaska Again scattered immatures (1 to 3) were seen - the wet marshy areas between Newel Ridge & Elson Lagoon. Probably not more than 25-30 birds were seen. 19 Aug - Nearer toward The Point 20 Aug 3 on Britton's Grand Ponds & 3 more in the No. VOR Area - these are all immatures and from those collected recently - there is no molt occurring; the birds are putting on fat - whereas adult agapornis are molting have very little fat stored. 21 Aug One flock of 6 imm. - Sulfur Felt Plot - in wet, low-c. Polygyn habitat. 4 imm. - mixed algae - melanotos - Pluvials group so. 1 Wolffsblog. Four other sighted?/individuals - scattered in the wider, marshy area & The Tundra. 22 Aug 4 imm. near West Ponds (lower). 23 Aug 8-10 am. Seen today - Scattered in 7's/8's. Feldman in wet marshy areas. 25 Aug About 10 seen between 100-68kph. - Gosling Ridge - all individuals - all immatures - all fed on - wet marshy areas. Now seen yesterday near The Point - They all seem to stay in the Tundra. 27 Aug - 3 seen SW / Genshawbetsu - imm.
