Holmes,R. 1962 Erylia melanotus 17 July Barrow, Alaska Group of 3 with P. Dumbi on beach ridge so. of AACS. (2880-18) 18 was collected & was molting heavily, (body only). 6 more 88° were seen near Meadows lakes. 18 July Flock 15 87° on marsh beside Hust lake. 19 July Flock of 8-10 birds (34:5-78) in No. Voth fording along & mid margins & in shallow water - Black mud localities. 20 July Flock of 8 (54° - 38°?) seen near the Wannigan under h. Skwawik. 15 m c forage feeding in a lowland pool N.M.J.A. (about half 1 hour were Q.F. 21 July Several small groups of 3-5 individuals -mostly 4° - were encountered near VA street area & in Caledon Marsh. 22 July 20-30 birds feeding in marsh area w. the south end of Footprint lake. - at least half were 88° - which have taken c c light gray color across the throat - evidence of extensive body molt. A flock of 16 seen near the Wannigan & Scattered individuals, mostly 4° were seen in marsh area between Footprint & Skwawik. No young have been noted - since there are not hatchlings.
