12 July Barrow,Plastic
& on net near 12.4 - gave distraction display -
left net when I was 60' away - flew low over
the ground with strong wing beat, landing 100'
going into a ground -running - wings to sides &
shuffling action - shuffling off through the
grass
- finally became rassum -
a rodent-like posture -
running off through the
low polygynic hough. Flutters in upper flight -
I gave a high-pitched squeaking note.
No other PS seen on plot. 4877 seen
N1/300 Tree in the afternoon.
14 July One P seen in marshes - So. of Brant Point -
near Elson Layon. One P collected No. of
Voth Area - who was in heavy body molt +
at the same time had accumulated much
fat. The brood patch was redeveloping, the
young were located - as she may have
failed to bring off her eggs &/or young.
16 July Flork of 6 87 on census plot at Skanvik -
also next a plot near Katchberg - 3 young
'pipping' eggs. The P left the nest when I
was still 10' away - flew ~ 5' wide
curve - landed about 4' from nest as I
approached it - stood there giving a deep
version of the RB 'nag, nag, nag,..... - male
a 'uh, uh, uh...' She never came close while I was there.
