Hohmes,R 1962 Erolia melanosts 16. 5 July Barrow, Alaska [ near 20.0] mDs plot - with three eggs? Do Q flee off when we were 30' away - flew at 88. 25 fps - u < low fly - landing 48' away + walking off from the trough in a partly-humid patch. No pronounced distraction display was observed. The nest was located on the east slope of the ridge - a densely- vegetated, large, flat (lie low) polygon was covered over by the tuft ledges. The Q was incubating at nest near 13.4 on Skovant plot. She flew low over the ground when leaving the nest. No distraction display was noted. No displaying or 87 were seen heard - no territorial defenses were noted. The only chasing was between 87 - three flock on a plot. The dimorphic calls between 87-75; is gentle striking - D'z's being < high-pitched spiking cheer up - the 87 a low gurgled verse. Mrs Sam note. 6 July Pectorals reported a rare in Deal ridge Census plot by Hans. Where is Mr Marsel; group of 4 were encountered out near Elsa Lagoon - freely. No display, ever seen heard.
