Erolia melanotus
4.
9 June Barrow, Alaska
Lake - about 50 yards / N. south
another flock was noted - The fin
with 12?88? All birds even busy
feeding. A flock of 15 was at Nussour
end / the Shrouds census plot -
again apparently many sound. I wonder
if these birds come in from the coast
& follow the creeks & lagoons inland -
along the bluff where an exposed.
The suns there out - seen on
an only sea, along E15-, Village
& Vth Creek - then at Shrook.
A group about 15 - mostly 8? were
seen feeding in the Cowards - S.W. (Drifters)
Area.
The amount of flocking this year for
purpose what was been seen in 1961. However,
relative few displaying & heard
at the tern - which seems peculiar
in comparison with 1955 & 60.
10 June - S.E. bend - mostly 4? seen feeding S.E. of Britton's
Area & a group of 3 (2?8?) / 2) on N.
insect plots.
One male feeding & displaying on the slope - opposite
(S.S.W.) Volcano. In the alert posture - Petrova
truck area is quite boggy - former < long
slope - In front the bird flops here astern
