Holmes, R. 1961 Erolia melanotus 13 June Barrow. Ikravik, Alaska A few 8" were seen heard along the Census plots today, but numbers are still low. Two flocks of 4-5 indiv. were chased by settled 8". Some of these birds seemed to be small, but this is not certain. - A 9 shot 11 Jun - showed no egg had been laid. 17 June - The great loch 1 PS is still natural - The B.R. Census plots area is nearly void 1 This species - 2 drgl. 8" were seen ( I heard ), but only one. 6-8 8" were feeding together near the camp 1 The most, but show no sign of breeding activity. 20 June On a day-long trip to Strand today - only 1 bird, a 8", was seen - it was a R.B.R. feeding. None seen on the plots at the holes. In the afternoon when the wind calmed, I went with Slough etc. - four 28" were not displaying. None were heard displaying - any- when. 23 June 1 displaying 8" seen near the census plots. 24 June A flock of 5-6 8" seen - central marsh. None were seen in the turner's section. Wold. Slough + Oskuph Slough. Numbers are very low. 25 June Large flock seen today in Central Marsh near B.R. One flock (12 was.
