15 July Barrow, Alaska
results in thin early flaking / The
females.
19 July A large flock / pectruses were present
in Vith's Marsh this morning. Many
/ The birds were 49 and all were
in some stage / body molt (see RTL
# 746-745). One brood of 4 young
was encountered west / The marsh.
The chicks were at least a week old
+ weighed 40-50 grams. No F were
present + saw several sequence /
The distraction display. This was
primarily a fluttering / The wings
as she moved away from me.
Her tail was bowed + spread. The
wings were held out away from
body - but were still cupped.
21 July Shrewsbury, Alaska
Several more broods were
found between Barrow &
Shrewsbury. One had just hatched;
2 others were 5-6 days old.
Several broods were also
reported by Waker + Reynolds
in Central Wales. The young + 2
are often found in the wet
marshes.
