Holmes, R. 1960 "Erolia" melandotes 29 June Barrow, Alaska They are chased constantly as they move through an area, so that it seems that most of the available halutat is occupied, and that then settled 8's have not left to join the flock, although they may soon. 30 June Kivalina, Alaska Man flocks were seen on the way down here last night, and this morning in the census plot, several small groups were seen. The majority of the activity in the plot is the adults / the fledglings 8's. Displaying so still going on; there is much chasing and territorial combat. Two 8's were noted along a boundary line. The two birds were flying side by side, both displaying to giving the hooting call. Then the Condor and walked side by side (in the same direction as the flight) with their heads turned forward each other. Both were in an erect posture, but not in the fully erect-tail lowered posture described earlier. After
