Holmes, R. 1960 "Erulia" melandotes 3 June Barrow, Alaska Flew are to rejoin The flock which flew off in a southerly direction. The 8 the did in aerial display & landed on an elevated polyg top. During the late afternoon, only one chase was observed. In this instance, the wanderer 8 took chase to a group of 5 8's passing thru his territory. The chase lasted for several minute + covered near 2 mile in distance.- went out over Elson Lagoon. And while watching a small 8 feeding, I saw a large 8 head butt another & begin to "hoot" after about 10 feet from the 8 on the ground. It then landed about 14 ft to 8', who took off with a loud squeak & flew towards N. north. 5 June Barrow, Alaska Many groups of patrols were seen between Barrow & the draina. Then flock were small, consisting of 6-10 birds. Some were males only, & some were mixed. These stayed usually in the wet marshy places, but appeared to be moving & not settled. Territorial 8's were seen near the draina,
