Holmes,R 1960 3 June Barrow, Alaska and no booming note was given. Distinct. The vocalist was a "firus" low, phter bill, not quite to guttural rate. After this ocelot, No 8 singed out one of No 4 and gave what an apparent a pause display. The 4 was working low shallow polygy trough feeding. The 8 came along behind her with his tail raised (cocked) + very slightly spread. It could raise one wing the less vertical position, then the other. The wing would alter alternate - both were sometimes held overhead. The head, neck were held forward but high, The bill thrust forward. There was no mobbing during this work. The vocalist was peculiar; it was a missing note which was repeated 203 times / sec. The chest was not notably swelled. This whole activity went on for about 10 feet + 10-20 sec. At this time the 4 flew of about 10 feet away + resumed feeding. No 8 followed (but did not resume displaying) and as soon as he harden to female "squawked" +
