30 June Skroavile, Alaska
The nest per stove 5,000 steel
octave, but as before. Then
is only one bird present.
1 July - Another bairdi was seen west of
The wanigan, and this bird appeared
like broody as if it had a nest
somewhere nearby. The nest was
found this afternoon about 60 yards
west of The wanigan (15 yards from
The Plectone nest + 30 yards from
The fox Red bul nest).

Bairdi in the region around Skroavile seems
rather scarce. In all the time spent in
this area, no aerial displays have been
seen or heard, although 2 nests are
present near The wanigan. Apparently
there is only 1 bird at each nest +
The males have departed. This suggests
may suggest that this may
be a characteristic of this species.
The habitat of bairdi is confusing.
Just here it is densest in its
range in Alaska. There is a population
breeding in the mountains (Pelas
Lake etc. when it breeds in the
