Holmes, P. 1960 Etolia Bairdii 31 may Barrow, Alaska One individual seen feeding with two Semi-polt & R. Furnstone just South / Wthl. Short then Elma Logan. 3 June - Two seen a smooth pelt f express tundra just east (boulds) I heard ridge. Upon my approach, one gave the very raising display (the wing towards me). One flew off to another pelt, loaded stage with both wings held high for 1 sec, the lowered both to raised. The we found one three birds in succession. Both birds, the flew off towards the ridge. One was seen later in the drum area. 4 June - Two seen along the Mead ridge near the magnetic station. One performed an aerial display, which lasted for about 50 sec. During the 1½ hours after the display, in the same area, the birds were not seen nor heard. 9 June - Four seen near AACs. The P(?) displays very conspicuously by raising his wing towards me when I approach. The P has no reaction, except to look up from his feeding.
