28 June Barrow, Alaska
Nest #13 - on No. slope B.R. - No. of Nests #
3 - 3 eggs, Fine. - On bare partial slope
in mossy ground with scattered pink &
dusky grass hedge. 90% expand.
-No advertisement today - only song
heard was during chases. Recalling,
back - as frequently part to display +
head or outstretched wings - but gave
noisy or pace it intermittently.
WR is old - often goes shifting off
in nature and tail depressed fanned,
both flanks ruffled & wing parts out
& inside (to varying degrees) - but
usually bent at detriment
[sketch of bird with wings spread] or [sketch of bird with wings folded] - in way birds don't want
to close to body - but
premature partly
fanned side.
In evening - have seen a female
Nestje; 1st her feeding near meadow.
4 for nest saw - wing up - flake
as she was returning to the nest after
being disturbed.
29 June Flod 14 + 1 settled (? #nest#12) - east of mag. station
+ 2 others - see notes below in reference to
collected specimens. - Flush of 5 moving west
along North Beach Ridge - stayed near us -
stood 6"-12" apart - then picked up + moved west,
