35. C. Swerciillis Holmes R.T. 1964 26 June Barrow, Alaska One chasity seen today involved 4 878 (#5 + 12 + 2 other) - #5 (barel Neorn 2- landed - all fed - #2 very flushed at the 2-tailed approach at 0730 - The saw a mild ground display - first Men all fed [the 2 mob at one point went into displacement sleeping] - Then 811 arrived - clear followed - after gun about 150 yds - all landed - 1411 supplies one off performing a ground display hit & chased off by a male (all hvalandids #11's area) - returned about 30 sec later chased a second bird - The third flew off by itself. Appears to be a FLOCK OF 2 878 - been joined at least temporarily by #5 - but broken up by #12 - who is still strongly territorial. A lovely 9 near micromet shock - 8 (412) landed nearby - gave a intense ground display with vocalization - she tipped forward - raising her tail folded wings to let the air + make the white undertail cants obvious to A 6 who stepped in display. This heavily passing 10g - whose strut might be forced to do so one with a clutch already capable - seems to be characteristic of this species when there is no war or little
