RTH 1964 C. Lucicellis 12. 11 June Barrow, Alaska On indw - inlanding aft, a flight display - kept 1 wing at vertical, then lowered it 1+sec. later. - The was seen twice. I bird seen on Pitelko's plot near 10.0 - 203 chasing + displaying east 1 bend in Needle ridge + 3 chasing near 4 barrels. 12 June WRC displayed after low flight - sharp climb - hover at 60' for ~60 sec., landed - fed for 5 sec. - flown 15' lander - stood washed 10' to cup, stood in it, squatted & settled, tail nearly at overhead rotated one 20° - preened again. waved breast into both cup, waded out Up (after about 20 sec.), stood at edge, with head movement? head (couldn't see what was very forced) - always to the left - probably frozing grass in lub with cup. This was a deliberate + calm jerky movement. I had head up-rept successin - but grass (- object!) not frozen but more deliberately dropped. Then bird then moved halfway around the cup & tossed head to right (still toward the cup) - did this for about 60 sec. - Bird washed into cup, stood there for 1-2 sec - half squatting. Me walked out - feed for 1/2 mins - flew low -1-2! When - went to 3rd - glided down - set wings & sat long. WR - supplemented by PPS twice. Both flying were 1st Seen. Landed - WR 1st - then PPS. PPS seen from WR, WR saw could vote (4:58 PM) at flew 6' & landed
