M.F. Smith 1975 JOURNAL Russell Reservation, Contra Costa Co., Calif. Nov. 16 with poison oak stems, brackeye, and chaparral above creek. Set 1-20 at base of hill below other chaparral line (Nof Observatory) in chamise & Baccharis, Set 21-40 in canyon among rocks under laurel trees and along creek bed (no water running). These are in canyon 0.3 mi E of office (by rd.) Finished there at 4:00 pm. Sun has been out for last hour or so, still quite windy. Checked traps in aviary & around old shed - nothing. Mice in aviary are probably Mus musculus since that's what they looked like when Al and I looked in and saw one on Friday. Finished at 4:30pm. Helped Bonnie blood the extra Microtius she had caught during the day. Got home at 6:00pm. Nov. 17 Drove my own car today to pick up the traps. Left home at 8:00am. Mileage 29159. Got to 1st canyon at 8:45am. Checked traps in chaparral & laurel canyon # 2 P. truei dead 4 P. truei dead 7 P. Truei dead # 29 P. californicus under laurel branch 38.
