M.F. Smith 1975 JOURNAL Aug. 10 Hastings travels over the jars. Left Hastings about 10:30 am. Mileage 28376 29527 Berkeley Nov. 14 Russell Reservation, Contra Costa Co., Calif. Left MVZ at 11:45am to go out to Russell with Bonnie Bowen in the Genetics Dept. stationwagon. Arrived at Russell at 12:15 pm and stopped to talk to Al & Mollie. Bonnie dropped me off above the observatory, set 1-20 in chaparral (chamise + a mint) and 21-40 higher up along edge of chaparral (some live oaks + buckthorn along edge), set 41-60 in live oaks N. of observatory (also some chaparral edge here), set 61-80 in oak-bay woodland (+poison oak) on N facing slope N of observatory, set 81-100 in grass above weather station, set 101-120 in grass+ scattered oaks S of water tank. Walked back down and set 40-80 nonfolding shearmans at end of road near garbage dump. Picked up Bonnie at 3:15 and got back to campus in time for seminar. Nov. 15 Bonnie picked me up at 7:45 am. I dropped her in the field and got to the Observatory at 8:45am. Cool, windy, no rain yet. Checked traps in chaparral.
