M.F.Smith 1975 Berkeley Hills JOURNAL Aug. 1 Finished checking traps at 11:00am. Final mileage 28189. Aug. 4 Drove up to the behavior station with Bob Jones to water the quail and look for mice. They had been into the quail feed. Stopped at Botanical Garden in Strawberry Canyon on the way down. Looked at the chaparral beyond the research plots, and near the potting sheds. Also stopped at Poultry Building. Called Botanical Garden when we got back to MVZ. Mr. Christ is on vacation for 3 weeks but arranged to talk to assistant manager, Keith Curry, on Tuesday afternoon. He finally got there about 4:00 pm and ok'd the trapping. Gave me a key for the gate into the chaparral. I set 30 small folding Sherman's and 20 large folding Sherman's. Forty were in the chaparral or along the fence, and ten small ones near the potting sheds. Finished in time to return the key before 5:00 pm) Aug. 6 Took Humphrey Do-Bart up to Bot.
