July 28
Went to Russell Reservation to get acquainted with the area. I had talked to Dr. Bill Libby on Friday, July 25. He gave me permission to trap at Russell assuming I could trap in areas that wouldn't interfere with other research. Rode out with Bonnie Bowen, who was going to set traps for Microtus. Met Al Bianchi and he drove me around in his truck and showed me some possible areas to trap. I want to try the chaparral and oaks up by the observatory, and in some of the canyons with shrubs down on the flats. Fairly cool, ~75°F at 5:00pm. Returned to Berkeley at 7:00 pm.
