M.F. Smith 1975 Hopl and Field Station, Mendocino Co., Calif. July 3 Left Berkeley at 12:30 pm. Mileage 26183. Arrived at Hopland Field Station, Mendocino Co, at 3;30 pm. Mileage 26303 Found Mr. Murphy at the office and he gave me a map and pointed out the main roads. Went out at 5:00 to set traps. Drove to Riley Ridge Biological Area, 2000' elevation. 15 Set 66-80 (large, non-folding Shermans) in oaks with grass beneath, on dirt road north 15 of end of gravel road, Set 51-65 on dirt track straight down from end of main road. 10 Set 41-50 back along main road. 15 Orchard Pasture, 2300'. Set 1-15 (non-folding Shermans) in chaparral south of gate. 15 Set 16-30 in deer enclosure in hairpin of road, Set 31-40 on slope above road. 10 S-facing 49 At Paracite Pens D2 set 48 small folding Shermans in 5 ~ parallel rows. Drass with some oaks. Elevation 1200', (Missing 45, ok) Starting across the road from the deer pens and back towards bunkhouse in rocky area. Large folding Shermans 37 41-60, 81-100 (missing 93,95, 96). Total 165 traps out by 9:00 pm. July 4 Got up at 5:15 am. Barely light then, Left the bunkhouse at 6;15 am to check traps.
