May 17 Herpetology class field trip to Hastings. Left Berkeley at 1:45, taking 46 mammal traps along. There should be 150 non-folding Sherman's at Hastings. Left Berkeley at 1:45 pm in 2 new University vans. Stopped at 3:30 near Watsonville. Pond restored after highway put through. Looking for Ambystoma macrodactylum - didn't find it there, but later at the end of Springfield Road in Moss Landing did find it. I also collected one Hyla regilla under needs for electrophoretic study. Stopped in Salinas to buy groceries. Arrived at Hastings about 7:30; I worked on dinner. Went out late - about 9:30 pm and set ~36 small Sherman traps. Around Davis' house, bunkhouse, lab, and along fence now by barn. Came back and went to bed at 11:00 pm.
