Heard Townsends solitarie as we descended into the canyon sandstone and Jay Fir. The call note is a clear high tone (vct#) can be repeated in succession but not hold long. Its call is a clear, brilliant "Whoopdee-doo!" rising at the end, dying in pitch in the middle. John Crocket said that they hold territories all winter long so they will sing regularly.
