Oct, 9 1989 Journal 131 Tucson Pima Co. Arizona 28 Oct For $127 I flew from Oakland to Phoenix to Tucson on America West. Carla Accio picked me up at airport at 3:30 pm. We went grocery shopping at AB 60 on Valencia Road (took a left out of Airport park lot the another left onto Valencia's went ~2 miles to grocery store.) We left Tucson at ~5:00 pm headed E on Interstate 10 to Willcox. We fueled up at Chevron just off Interstate big gassy area for trucks etc... Lots of motels and Pizza hut (Motel 6, Best West and Comfort Inn). We then went S east of W-10 exit on route 186 ~39 miles to Coronado Natl Forest. We stopped at Chiricahua Natl Monument helps but they were closed so we headed into the forest, stayed in one of the 1st campgrounds we came to. Lots of deer hunters and RV's givers! We arrived ~9:00 pm 29 Oct Coronado National Forest Cochise Co. Arizona Woke to the sound of Gray-breasted Jays. Very smelly fills at daint faces. Saw flock of Crossbills, rambled much deeper into woods at Sogoba. Just back on road toward Portal. Went past Onion Saddle and stopped at Campsite just W of Selver Peak. We got three Plain thrice in that area saw 2 Brilled. In the afternoon we went further down road past portal onto thru 80 going S to Price Canyon Road. Beautiful area of the Park. At end of road is trail lead to Submer Peak (~6 miles) crossed cool, deep canyon steep hills with PJs and Oaks. Had to
