The Sea Ranch, Emily No Stewart Point, Sonoma Co, Caly 1097
22 oct The drive starts out in coastal redwood canyon.
The turns up in altitude to drier scrub oak and madrone at finally ends in wine country. We
stopped at Johnson's vineyard (terrible wine) and
at another part (E) of johnson & think it was redwood
vineyards which had a very nice shwartrium ($16 per
split.) we took 128 out of Geyersville to St. Helena.
We stopped at Henry Evans botanical print shop on
Pine street (go left W blk off of 128). Pine st is one
of the 1st streets in town (at the Police station). We
then went N on 128 to do some wine tasting.
Most vineyards were closed at 4:30 pm. we stopped at
Folie a deux. A small vineyard N of Hwy on E
side of road. Very nice 1986 Chardonnay. We tried to
go to Sterling Vineyard (looks like elaborate teen with
a trav) but they were closed at 4:00. Went to Beringer
which is S of Folie a deux on 128 just before turn
on W side of road. They were open until 5:00 pm. Wine
was average, but had lovely gardens ad restaurant
looked nice. We then went back to St. Helena
S on 128 to Dansk shop which is on W side of
road on S side of town. We all a wonderful
Italian dinner at Tra Vigne which is directly
across the street from the Dansk store. I had perth
ravioli & mother had chicken. He had great biscuits
ad breads. Reservations were a good idea. we ate
at 6:00 and then headed back to Sea Ranch. Long day
