12 October No sparrows left at station. All leaves on the willows are gone. It snowed last week and shortly said willows dropped their leaves then.

21 Oct At noon on a bright sunny day mother and I headed out on 580 W to the Richmond - San Rafael bridge. To 101S to Hill Valley. Stopped at Smith Hawk's Garden Center of E. Blithedale Avenue. From there we headed N on 101 to Santa Rosa. We went west onto Santa Rosa College we took 116 West to Sebastopol. Just N of Sebastopol we stopped at Kessie River Vineyard where try bottle Topolos wine. Their U/Pinto Zinfandel was excellent (Gold Medal winna) nice dry rosary wine. Also had restaurant hotel nice but we didn't stay. We spent the night with B+B from P50 on Stocty Road off of Harrison grade road.
