April 1989 journal 83 Russell Freekes, 2mi NW Lafayette, Contra Costa Co, Calif 130oft 25 April 0711 hours overcast, drizzle ad cold (40-45°F) She was clearly from frost possibly. Observed WYFW B/fw at his unmarked ? Found empty fork nest at N end of drainage attached to a live hemlock. Flagged dead hemlock 3' to SW: Dosj, moats I had observed them the morning th 8th & 7 foraging ad flying from west site to 20-30yds away. She stayed in close proximity to one another. ? vocalizing from everywhere but 10yd radius of nest. Lazuli flew into west area ad ? cleared it away. ? did not vocalize much but she flew around a lot. At 0930 ? left white's territory ad went to the pond. I saw WYFW BK singing from woodpile ad flying S of that pile heard no female also saw one of th B/fw's on the woodpile but could not tell whom. at 1030 started OB on WYFW B/fw at his unmarked ?. Found nest with 2 cold eggs on w side of pond in hemlock. Flagged SWq nest 3' ad 20s awayed. She nest on the edge of the mulberry patch beyond Sunday is still empty. Havnt seen red couple for ! at least one week!
