April
0624 hours arrive at Russell, too late to catch
FW/BL who mate again but she eluded me.
She has been calling from end of Posgrave
and also gurg calls in large canyons
I did not wrent(2) a Golden-crowned
Sparrow. Her behavior would indicate she
is nesty. At 0800 hours I took down the
net and started obs on FW/BL 4th pair.
They were very gregarious, nitty in thistle patch until
0925 hours. It was quite warm after this storm
but not so humid as yesterday. There is a good!
Keep. Saw Shaggy fly w over the canyon.
Also saw Red-tailed fly 0730 hours in
canyon. At 1000 hours I found the Stry
Sparrow nest of FW/BL pair, I had observed
I with nesty material as I tapped away
thru their territory. Pair became agitated
flew in from thistle patch as we be about to
me I located the nest. I walked beyond the
nest at 15 minutes finds were quiet. I
decided to walk back (5) 45 yds to where
I had lost the F with stuffy in her mouth.
As I did, I spotted the nest. 1Y2' high
off ground in low lying prickly bush ~ 2 cubic
feet. The bush is 2Y2'g w of tailed wire when
I flagged. The area is opposite the small
pine grove. I put doz- aves around nest.
