th, 8 1989 Journal 64 Santa Cruz Island, 25mi W Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara Co, California 23 Mar Ken H[illegible] 0530am awoke to record Song Sparr[illegible]s ad Orange-crowned Warbler. I walked W to [illegible] Encadpts zone and E to entrance to Stanton Ranch. Recorded Beuchis, Kestrels, Western Meadowlark, Calz. Quail, Allies, Northern Flecker etc... It was quite foggy with noised recording was good. Recorded until 7:30 am. Ate breakfast of Berenti, scrambled eggs and Maja Dickinson's coffee. Ken then sented a jeep and drove us E to Prisoner's Cove. Red-tail haw Eagle [illegible] spotted fight (div) on way to Cave. W Prisoner's Cave Statue Enclipt Cave[illegible] Pelican Caves Twin Harbors Prominence Hilltop peak 2300' midden We found a sick seal at the cone. It was wonderfully emaciated, 6 folds of skin on its abdomen. Ray and I headed W along the shoreline for 1/2mi to Pelican Bay there were about 3 or 4 burley to traverse. We should have gone to twin harbors but we took this [illegible]. Pelican bay showed signs of habitation at once there was a home but now it looks like.
