Russell's Farm, 2 mi NW Lafayette, Contra Costa Co. Calif. 94549.
4 March Out at Russell to set up some feeder stations. Put Saffoy Cardinal Chow (1.39 5 lbs) at wood pile near fenced in pond. Also at mulberry bush set up pile at the bath tub end near well spray. At this spot I heard a full male call followed immediately with no break a female singing. Then there were some "chirps" this was at 7:00 am.
The weather is overcast and sprinkle-y. I have heard 2 other Song Sparrow full male calls up the hill ~150yds. One sounded like it came from that area of W ridge I tried to net at earlier.
Rain hard now, almost like sleet. I took tape refuge in the back of the State wagon (9:37am).
