th, J 1989 journal 46 25 Feb but it doesn't stay "chirpy" thought I may have heard a high pitch squeak response from Syds to SW. Black Phoebe was giving a "Peek" call repetitively from that old tool shed like my junk W of nesting patch. The hillside a green with a tree mat 2 years at it tall. Even the road is green and muddy from the tool shed on. The speed was intermittent 15, 20 mph. 15 minute later the radio dial is no longer in sight at all has stopped chirpy - will not respond to tape at all. It is raining lightly now or I have returned to the car and the cover of the pines. There is blue sky to one side of my peaks clouds to the other. We need the rain so badly it is hard not to welcome it despite the fact that it is interrupting field work. The wind gives me holding "Yuk-Yuk" but now elm is calling. She can needs a new maple! Boy does it sound tough coming up over the hills. Yesterday Bob Jones gave me some Bailey traps to try out. He said we could make more foxes.
