uth, J. 1938 Journal 630eff Pine Penng Tahoe Natl Forest I.Smi's & Sarah Field Sta. Nevada Co. CA 17 Jun pm drive. Saw Indio foraging and with food in mouth ~ 10m from th road in pine surrounded by willow. This indio would fly to ground or dead string and flit tail then fly into willows out of sight ~ 1' from dead string. Heard pass begging calls at this time, Also graves are flying around a fork in a willow another 10m toward stream want investigate but want to disturb indivs this late. Retracing my tracks I discovered I drove down the Piney Pines road toward Saylor week 2 miles. 3:49 had dinner in the dining hall met Donna (5K mi, long brown hair) and Brigette (Plumb granes, long brown hair). Both are nice and Donna was helpful. Told me about Paul and his paint studying Mantui Beavers. Have been hearing an ascending hooting - poss. W. Screech Owl? SS still singing Owl(?) call is accerately short scots. I'm camping in the Volleyball court on th E end of compound in the meadow. The owl's hoody sounds a lot like Mado wings flapping as they come into roost. Species List California Quail 6 Willow Sparrows 10', 14 left apart Red-shafted Flicker 3 sex unk.
