24 May 1938 Journal THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND HISTORY San Pablo Dam Contra Costa Co. California 8:17 am set out to San Pablo Dam to look for Song Sparrow nests Route: Grippy Peak Blvd to Wild Cat Canyon to San Pablo Dam Road. Weather - Partly Cloudy ~60°F, breezy mileage begin - 59858.6 to 59897.1 Route: Contended to Grippy Peak to El Tayanne, but El Tayanne is closed ½ mile in. So went Grippy Peak to South Park Dr to Wildcat Canyon to Bear Creek Road parked at Bidens Staging Park overlook to look for Sparrows. Vegetation area is greases (1½' high); juniper, - pine trees spaced planted thickly (less than 1' apart). To the south of the pine I have piper Finch. 9:30 am set out, SW toward Reservoir, Pine trees live the edge and Tules are thick near the trail head of the reservoir.
