Smiley 1936 For map of localities see notebook of E.R.Hall. July 2 Yesterday, at 8:50 AM, left Berkeley, MVZ in Univ. of Calif. Reo truck and E.R. Hall's Ford. Went via Vallejo, Sacramento, Roseville, Truckee, to Verdi. Turned north on road to fish hatchery (state of Nevada) and camped within 200 yards of buildings thereof (south). Camping place: W. side of Truckee R.R., 4900 Ft., 1/2 Mi. W. of Verdi, Washoe Co., Nev. Set out 35 mouse traps going south along bank of river for 300 yards on steep bank (45° slope) in thicket of cottonwoods, wild rose, elderberry: traps here just over break of bank near exposed roots of trees and near rocks. Took 3 Peromyscus maniculatus here. At edge of meadow, near stone fence and thicket of wild rose caught one Mus musculus. Field trip of three hours: Observed birds, saw one Rana pipiens and collected it; saw one alligator lizard in rocks under yellow pine. Field party consists of: E.R. Hall, W.H. Russell, E.T. Hooper, C.H. Engler, and D.C. Smiley.
