Smiley 1936 Dipodomys merriami 4 mi. NW Flanigan, 4200 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. July 4 Five caught in area of rolling sand dunes. These as high as six feet. Sand dirty white, fine, wind-blown. Open burrows under plants presumably occupied by this species. Sarcobatus a major planti. July 5 N side Sand Pass, 3950 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. Number of specimens obtained not recorded. Area of wind-blown sand and silt without conspicuous dune structure. Soil accumulated to some extent around base of bushes. Burrows of Dipodomys here. Vegetation quite abundant. None of plants recognized. A sturdy stemmed Poroseld legume with tiny purple flowers was abundant. July 6 slope east-facing gentle (about 5%). 2 1/2 mi. E Flanigan, 4280 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. July 7 40°28' N 6 mi. E Calif. Line, 4000 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. On hillside with 30% slope, areas of wind- blown sand (slightly dune-like), between outcrops of igneous rocks covered with calcareous hot spring deposit. Sand areas with Artemesia up to four feet in height. Burrows of Dipodomys in accumulation of sand under bushes. July 25 1 1/2 mi. N Sulphur 4050 ft., Humboldt Co., Nev. One caught on dune structure 15'x100'x600' and another on silt ground close to dune. Sand of dune light tan, wind-blowable. The one animal was
