Smiley 1936 Dipodomys microps (continued) July27 Sarcobatus in silty area; sage (cont) not abundant. July28 3 mi. SW Vernon, 4300ft., Pershing Co., Nev. 1 caught in ten traps set on semi-windblowable sand - light tan in color. Sand in dunes 2 feet + less high. Sarcobatus major plant. 2 caught in area where sandy silt was stippled with small angular rocks. Terrain flatish. No dune-like structure. July29 21 mi. W & 2 mi. N Lovelock, 4000ft., Pershing Co. Six caught on dunes of light gray windblowable sand. These set as miniature mountain ranges on area of slight westward drainage. Dunes not exceeding 15 feet high and not abruptly cleft into dunes. Aug.2 9 mi. E Fanning, 4100ft., Buena Vista Valley, Pershing Co., Nev. Rolling dunes of cream-colored silt, with Sarcobatus the predominant & conspicuous plant. Small herbaceous plants scarce. Sole of foot sinks 1 inch at each step. Dunes up to 8 feet high.
