Smiley 1936 July 26 In area (1) Caught 1 Dipodomys ordii 1 Perognathus longimembris. Area (2), caught 1 Dipodomys ordii, 2 Perognathus longimembris, 2 Peromyscus maniculatus, 3 Microdipodops sp. Set 75 mouse traps south of Rabbit Hole Spring: 8 mi. S Sulphur, 4300 ft, Pershing Co, Nev. On 10° hillside and on ¼-mi- wide, bottom of wash. Two soil types cream colored (1) light tan silt took print of hobnails Sarcobatus major vegetation plainly; 45 traps here and extending up hillside on hard ground. (2) wind- blowable, light tan sand in small dunes under bushes (Sarcobatus); 30 traps set here. July 27 Combined catch of above-described, (two) areas: 9 Dipodomys merriami, 5 D. microps, 4 P. maniculatus, 2 Perognathus longimembris, 1 Neotoma lepida. Moved camp to area south of Vernon. Set 62 mouse traps in area: 3 mi. SW Vernon, 4300 ft, Pershing Co, Nev. 10 traps at semi-wind-blowable sand-light tan. 52 traps in area with gradient of rocks small and few to large and many.
