Smiley 1936 July 24 Sand wind-blowable; vegetation: (cont.) Sarcobatus, Artemesia, Atriplex on poor ground (semi-hard silt). July 25 Caught at (1) 2 Dipodomys microps, 1 Perognathus longimembris, 4 Microdipodops sp. At (2) Caught 2 Dipodomys merriami, 3 Perognathus longimembris, 3 Peromyscus maniculatus, 2 Reithrodontmys, 7 Microdipodops sp. Drove approx. 25 miles east from sulphur to (1) 18 mi E + 1 mi. N Juno 4200 ft., Humboldt Co., Nev. and set 20 mouse traps in area of Semi-windblowable sand mottled over surface of hard-packed, light tan silt. Traps set at 15 paces (too close); Vegetation: Sarcobatus + Artemesia. Set 50 mouse traps at (2) 8 mi E + 1 mi. N Juno, 4200 ft., Humboldt Co., Nev. This a very large area (limits not seen) of wind-blowable sand, light tan grayish in color, drifted into conspicuous dune structure; pebbles in diameter from 1-2 mm over surface of sand spottily. Vegetation: Sarcobatus and Artemesia. Rolled oats mixed with butter and peanut butter used as bait.
