Smiley 1936 July 23 outcrops, some ten feet high, 30 (cont.) feet long; some outcrops even with ground's surface and position indicated by checker-like pieces of rock talus; each checker about 1-2 inches square and 4 inch thick. Atriplex major plant. 20 traps on semi-hard sediment (Silt) very light tan in color; major plants Atriplex, Sarcobatus and very little Artemesia. July 24 Caught 5 Dipodomys microps, ♯ 1 Onychomys, 1 Neotoma lepida, 3 Perognathus longimembris, 2 Peromyscus maniculatus, 9 Peromyscus crinitus. Drove south along eastern side of valley 50 miles to Sulphur, Nev. Camped in mouse old Hotel. Set 30 traps at: (1) 9½ mi. N Sulphur 4050ft, Humboldt Co., Nev. This in area of sand with small, nari-colored pebbles over the surface of the sand; pebbles 1 to 2 mm. in diameter. vegetation: mainly Atriplex. set 50 mouse traps at: (2) 1½ mi. N Sulphur, 4050ft, Humboldt Co., Nev. wind blowable sand in a single, large dune structure 15 feet high x 100 ft. wide x 600 ft. long
